In the space of a moment life as we know it can change. Storms of life sometimes hit with a little warning, other times they come right of the blue. Either way life will not be the same. We will not be the same.
When our legs has been pushed out from under us and our breath knocked out of our lungs. When conversation requires more than a nod and, the nod takes all our energy can we raise a hallelujah when the weight of sorrow hangs tightly around us?
Though we may not have the energy to dance a jig before the Lord, our hearts can still sing a sacrifice of praise to Him when we have it settled in our hearts that everything about God is good. He cannot do evil things because that is not who He is. There is no darkness in Him.
He is For Us
Adam and Eve chose unwisely when they listened to Satan instead of God and ushered in death and decay. Now the world lives with the consequences of their actions.
When we realize God is not the author of sickness, murder, rape or any number of godless actions done to you or me. When we remember He is for us, He wants us to live in close loving relationship to Himself. It is then we can raise a hallelujah when life sucks.
The enemy of our soul would love to drag us back down to his level. Down to the realm of despair and hopelessness. Jesus did not die on the cross and rise again for fallen angels. Satan and his crew don’t have a snowballs chance in hell of getting back into heaven; no wonder they are full of despair.
As we worship the Lord the darkness will flee because it cannot stay in the light. When we don’t understand why plan A has now become plan B, C or even Z still let us raise our voice in worship. His worthiness doesn’t change.
Fear like a bully retreats when it realizes it has met someone stronger than it self. The Lord is holding us with His mighty strong arm…that’s strong.
You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.
Verbal worship is not merely words to music. It’s the melody of our heart in adoration to Jesus. It’s the song of a delivered soul. A song of victory even when our circumstances say otherwise. It’s the war cry the enemy dreads.
When we lift our voice in worship to Jesus our Savior, the enemy trembles as he backs away knowing he has lost the battle to keep us down.
Even when life hits way too hard and we feel as if we have no energy to lift a note of praise…whisper your worship…and whisper it again and again. Our whisper is louder than the enemies lies. Louder than his effort to defeat us. Let the whisper grow a little louder each time until it becomes a roar of praise.
Love the song that Moses, Miriam and the Israelites sang to the Lord in Exodus 15. Here is a small portion
I will sing to the Lord, for he its highly exalted. The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea. The Lord is my strength and my song, he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.
Whether in seasons of calm or storms may we always be found in the presence of the Lord.
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Psalm 34:8
