Summer is here and it’s hot. Hot and humid! Too hot to rush around, it’s time to slow down. Time to live life at a more relaxed pace…we wish!
Whether you are at the beach, the lake or the kiddie pool in your backyard, find a shaded area, put your feet up, have a cold refreshing drink at hand, relax and enjoy a good book.
Here is a list of some of the books I have enjoyed reading, they are not in any particular order. Please note; I am NOT being paid to recommend these books, I have genuinely read and enjoyed each one.
First let me say, no book or devotional should ever replace your daily reading of the scriptures. We need God’s word in us daily if we want to grow in our Christian walk. Scripture is not just words on a page, it is food for our soul, meat to our bones. It’s nourishment…don’t skip a meal, this is not the time to diet.
That said I highly recommend The One Year NLT Chronological Bible, the flow is easy to read.
Here they are 20 thought provoking, encouraging, enjoyable books.

I like many of the authors you list; some I haven’t read. Suggest reading all Tessa Afshar books, Fight Back with Joy by Margaret Feinstein, 1000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp (not an easy read but worth every second of your time).

I’ve not heard of the first two authors. I have Ann Voskamp’s book though only read the first chapter…will try again, maybe it wasn’t the right time for me the first time around. I have heard it’s awesome.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I’ll put the other two authors on my list to look out for.

I didn’t know Pastor Rick had written any books, until I read this post. I downloaded a sample of Be Real: Because Fake Is Exhausting to my iPhone, it’s very good…I’m going to have to buy a copy soon.
