He Takes My Breath Away

A canopy of burnt red and amber colored leaves rustled in the gentle breeze as I walked the wooded section surrounding the lake. The sun shone brightly against the pale blue sky while squirrels played ‘Catch me if you can’ through the already fallen leaves. Turtles sat quietly on driftwood, lined up one after the other like a child lines up his toy cars.

Cell phone camera on. I take aim, not really sure if I have the turtles in focus due to the glare of the sun on the screen. More by experience than actually seeing I manage to tap the camera icon . The sound of a shutter firing is heard, spontaneously the turtles dive off the driftwood in rapid succession into the lake. Only one turtle remained. I can’t tell if I got the shot.  I will have to wait and see.

I walk on enjoying the warmth of the sun. It’s November and it’s 70f.

Yep! You read it right. 70f in November.

There are still a few people out in short sleeve t-shirts. I, on the other hand am wearing long sleeves with my lightweight jacket tied around my waist. The temperature was in the 50’s earlier in the day.  Now, I’m over dressed. Hence I relocated my jacket around my waist .  At the waters edge I see a variety of fowl, some large and some small. Honestly I don’t know one fowl from the other, I just enjoy all of them even the ones who hiss as you walk past.

I am blessed to live near a lake and I love how each season brings the lake its own unique look. This season, the “Fall Look” is definitely in and it is stunning. I have to agree with King David in Psalm 66 “Take a look at God’s wonders-they’ll take your breath away.” Message Bible.

I stand in awe of an awesome God. I have looked at his wonders and they take my breath away. He takes my breath away.

Take time to look at his wonders and let him take your breath away.

Oh and by the way, I got the shot. That’s it at the top of the page.
